Description

The Model Rules of Professional Conduct mandate that lawyers stay updated on technology affecting legal practice. Generative AI (GAI), like ChatGPT, can improve creativity and efficiency but requires ethical use, especially in client, colleague, and court dealings. Lawyers must proactively understand and apply GAI, avoiding the "wait and see" stance, as its misuse has already led to professional misconduct and diminished trust. This presentation aims to equip attorneys with AI literacy to use and oversee this technology ethically.

Special AV Instructions
Also, while you an audio record my presentation if you like, I do not permit any photography or videotaping or visual streaming of my talk.

A/V:

• A lavaliere (clip-on) wireless microphone.

• A projector for my multimedia presentation that will hook up to my laptop through an HDMI connection.

• The podium should be set up so that I can connect my laptop to the projector cable at the podium and control my laptop from the podium. Specifically, for your A/V crew,

o The HDMI cable for the projector should be pulled to the podium so that I can stand at the podium with my laptop.
o There should be a power source at the podium for my laptop.
o The presentation is copyrighted, and I will bring my own laptop. I do not use a wireless mouse because of the many keyboard macros I use for the presentation.
o Because of the copyrighted nature of my audio-visual presentation, I do not allow videotaping or streaming of my talk; however, an audio-only recording is permissible.

• The screen for the multimedia presentation should be set up so that the bottom of the screen can be seen by everyone in the audience. Depending on the configuration of the room, this sometimes requires that the screen be placed on risers or that there be two screens and two projectors linked with a splitter.
