APRIL M. HAMMETT is a partner of the law firm of McNew, King, Landry & Hammett, LLP in Monroe, Louisiana. She attended Louisiana State University in 2007, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. She obtained her Juris Doctorate and Diploma of Civil Law in 2010 from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center. From the start of her career, April has maintained an active family law practice, including the successful litigation of complex community property partitions, support proceedings, and contested custody disputes. In addition to family law, April’s practice includes all aspects of business and corporate law, succession and trust litigation, and civil litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. Active in the legal community, she is currently serving as a member of the LSBA House of Delegates, previously served as President of the Fourth Judicial District Bar Association, is a member of the Fred J. Fudickar American Inn of Court, and is a Charter Fellow and active volunteer for the Northeast Louisiana Bar Foundation.
