Full Conference (1.0 hrs):
This one-hour CLE Program is an essential primer on the newly enacted Louisiana law on Remote Online Notarizations. The speaker, Professor Missy Lonegrass, is the reporter of the Louisiana Law Institute’s Notaries Committee, which authored the new law, and also serves on the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Stakeholder Committee, which authored the administrative regulations that will implement the new law. This program will cover the rise and fall of electronic and remote notarizations in the United States and Louisiana and all aspects of Louisiana’s new Remote Online Notarizations Act (La. Acts 2020, No. 254), including the acts and instruments to which the law does (and does not) apply, how remote online notarizations are accomplished, and notaries’ obligations under the law. The speaker will also discuss industry trends around remote online notarization in Louisiana.
